Seascape: Corona del Mar

I was in California a couple weekends ago and had a chance to make it down to the beach to paint. The threatening rain clouds looked really cool but made it a challenge because they kept blocking the sun. I was an hour or so into it before it started to get too dark, so I had to finish it off at home.

  1. That's a great painting Dave!
I painted outside once too... I promise myself that I would never do it again. It was a disaster. That's why, knowing how hard it is, I appreciate it even more!

  2. Real nice plein air! You can sense the light just wanting to peek through those clouds. Love the reflected/ambient light you have going on, particularly in the cliff faces.

  4. I'm impressed with how you handled the water nearest the beach. Also, I like the rounded shapes to those rocks.
